La Mer’s new lobby design planned by Crawford + Associates

NAPLES, Fla. (Apr. 7, 2014) – La Mer, Naples’ first luxury high-rise building built around a central atrium, will soon feature a unique, newly designed lobby. Patricia Crawford, principal of Crawford + Associates and BAY 170, has completed the interior design portion of the master plan that will achieve the residents’ vision of open space inspired by nature. La Mer, with 104 residences, overlooks the Gulf of Mexico on Gulfshore Blvd. North.

Crawford’s design includes two matching vertical water walls that cascade down into the lobby from the top of the second floor walkway. Glass rails will partially replace the current concrete half walls to create an open view. The existing lobby pools will be removed to make way for a centrally located, shimmering vanishing edge lighted pool that will hold glass sculptures. Due to the open-to-the-elements nature of the atrium lobby, Crawford added porcelain wood look tile to simulate natural materials.

For the two presentations to La Mer’s residents in which she participated, Crawford developed four three-dimensional renderings and five color boards. The renovation plan was passed in March, and work has begun on development of the final design drawings.
