NAPLES, Fla. (March 26, 2014) – Members of Collier’s Reserve Country Club proved that “home is where the heart is” on March 20 when they raised more than $106,000 for Habitat for Humanity Collier County at their annual reception which took place in a member’s home. This amount is enough to build two more Habitat Homes in addition to the 28 homes already built with funds raised and donated by Collier’s Reserve Country Club’s members over the past decade.

This year, Collier’s Reserve has helped three hard-working families in Collier County. The Gonzales family attended the reception and shared their experiences on the challenges they faced before they were able to move into a safe, affordable home.

“Mrs. Gonzales brought tears to the eyes of many of us,” said Ron Schlemmer, resident of Collier’s Reserve and community liaison to Habitat for Humanity. “We understand what a clean, safe home means to these deserving families, and their gratitude has motivated us to do even more.”

In addition to the Gonzales family, the Iturraldes and Auguste families have now moved into their new homes after living for years in overcrowded conditions, neighborhoods with high crime rates and forgoing modern conveniences such as air conditioning and hot water.
